It's 3am and I can't sleep.
My Nanang is gone. She came down with pneumonia Friday and was in and out of the hospital since then. Apparently she was given last rites on Saturday. I didn't know all this. No one tells me these things. What I know is that she died 10 minutes before I got home from school.
Earlier tonight, Carlene and I talked about the *good times* with Nanang. We reminisced about the crazy things she did, the foods she cooked and the stories that she told. Then we went downstairs to watch my newest half.com purchase: A bootleg dvd of THE LITTLE MERMAID while Sonny made some chocolate chip-banana pancakes. I felt better then.
But now, I'm alone in my room. Its dark, I can't sleep, and everytime I close my eyes, I can see her. Now, I realize, thats the only way I'm going to see her from now on. Yes, she had a long life... but still. You never want to see anyone you love go.
I found an old post that I wrote about Nanang...
Thursday, March 13, 2003
We got some fresh flowers today at work which meant I had to get water for them. At the old building, this really isn't much of a task since the water spout is right outside the back, 2 feet away from our backdoor. At this new location though, water isn't as close. The spout is about 8 shops down and the hose we have is about 50 feet too short. Anyways, so while I was fetching my water, I was totally reminded of how my nanang would tell me your typical grandparent stories of how she would have to ride a caribou for 5 miles just to get water.
Then, while having my "Nanang moment" flashback, I remembered this one incident when I was younger that made me almost drop my bucket of water and throw up.
So while growing up, my mom worked during the day and my dad worked the nightshift so that there would be at least one parent taking care of us... but every other week/month/whenver my Nanang would live with us and also take care of us. She'd cook dinner sometimes and everything would be dandy. But this one time, she cooked sutanhon (a noodle soup) and it was the sickest thing ever. Oh, it tasted just fine at first, but during the course of dinner, mom found some weird brown thing in her meal. We all looked at it and just figured.. its probably some weird bit of chicken. But then, while stirring the pot, we found this white clothy thing in the soup. Then we all screamed, gagged, and figured what it was. It was discovered that the brown thing was the sticky part of a bandaid. The white thing... well, that was the gauze. Who's bandaid did it belong to? Nanang just looked at her hand and started laughing... it was hers!! Oh funny ha ha... dinner was over and everyone, with the exception of Nanang, stopped eating and just wanted to throw up. Ewww....
There was also the time when a bee landed on me in the car, and while trying to take it of me (since I was allergic to bees), Nanang pinched it between her index finger and thumb and accidently PUSHED the stinger into my arm. I had to get a shot in my butt because of that.
But I love my nanang. I have so many fun, quirky stories about her in my head that I really want to write them all down so that I when I become old and forgetful, I can give them to my kids so that they'll know about her. Playing bingo (complete with the bingo ball cage), conning her to buy my snoopy paper after dance lessons, going to parties and she'd be the lady on the dance floor... dancing with another old lady, nanang chasing us around the house with a knife threating to kill us... ahhhhh good times I tell ya. :) Good times.
"Nanang... what are you doing?"
"Sitting pretty."
Oh my gosh... I'm going to miss her so much...

i walked through the door to find sonny in the garage. i joked with him. i said "I'm not carlene" cause usually he'll stand at the door to greet her home.
"call your dad."
"why?"
"because your grandmother just passed away."
i can't breathe.

*and so it continues*
nicole: we should get one of mom's boyfriends to come help paint
carlene: I know! I have my boyfriend here!
nicole: its a good thing I don't have one...
sonny: this is WHY you need one!
Tonight, we painted the living room into 2 shades of green. Maybe it's me, or its the lighting... but it makes me crave guacamole and something chilie-limey. It'll probably look much nicer during the day.
I hope.

YAY! Its been a while, but I'm before 1am on a Saturday night for work! WHOOHOOO!! Yeah, I had to work tonight... but we started tearing down at 9:30 and finish by 11:15! Really, you don't know how excited I was about that. Normally I'll leave home at 11 and come back at 2 or 3am. On the downside though, my right hand is rather sore from spilling a whole lot of hot wax on it after picking up a candle incorrectly. :( But hey, I'm home... right now! :)
If only I had tv, then I'd watch it. But we're still in the "dark." I guess one of the guys tried to reinstall it on the new patio... but Sonny overheard him saying "where do I plug this in?" Um.. yeah. You'd think that since they took it down in the first place, they'd be able to put it back. Argh. So here we are... going into week 5 of no tv. Hardcore. Have apes taken over the planet? Who's govenor? I know Ross walked in on Rachel and Joey kissing.. but what happened to Will and Grace?!?
Soon... I will know everything soon. I hope. Maybe. Hmmmm....

The past couple of days has sorta been like a reunion of sorts with all the birthdays. :) YAY! Isn't it funny how when you see someone you haven't seen in a while, you realize that you really DO miss seeing them regularly? Like... say every weekend at some kind of CKI event? OK. It isn't exactly funny, but its kind of sweet and sad at the same time.
Well... except Pic.
Wait... no... there was a time I saw Pic every weekend... what a whore. ;P
That "whore" comment was directed to Pic... not me.
Anyways, if I had brought my camera last night... I probably wouldn't post the pictures because I'm sure everyone looked gross being all sweaty and shiny. And really, all those hands and bodyparts just thrown about... not PRETTY. But I'm sure in every picture, you'd see Manny's hand on someone's ass, thats for sure. Apparently Sukhyung's is pretty nice... according to the sick f*ck.
"I thought you're gay!"
"Not anymore!"
Oh lordy. :)
It was well worth the 3 hours of sleep I had before work this morning. Thanks guys! Lets do it again!!
During my usual Saturday "I'm so freaking tired I'm gonna sleep before I go back to work like a 2 cent hooker" nap, I had Penelope with me in bed. Hyper puppy plus girl tired as holyhell do not mix well. Still, I love that puppy... even if she'll freak me out by sticking her cold wet nose into the back of my neck as I'm drifting into sweet slumber. Ew.
Oh speaking of work, I'm getting a bit sad because soon, Sonny is gonna leave in persuits of a "real" job. I realized today when the new girl drove up and Sonny turned and whispered "I HATE YOU" in her direction... I'm gonna miss having him be my ally at work. oh its so sad! She's awful. :P

A great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mike "Bob" and Manny "whodasickf*ck".
Mike had stubble on his cheek. I felt it on my tongue. :P
I don't know about Manny yet. I should find out tonight. ;)
Although I don't see them as often as I would like, they always manage to put a smile on my face whenever I do. So yeah... HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU SEXY WHORES! ;)

I love April toO!
JC Soze81: ne news about the guys
spaznik: welll no *explains situation...*
spaznik: :(
JC Soze81: ahh..WHY
JC Soze81: he's stupid
spaznik: and *explains situation...*
JC Soze81: ahhh
JC Soze81: so no more guys?
spaznik: yep. no more guys.
spaznik: boo.
JC Soze81: that is boo
JC Soze81: i bet you..they were both gay
spaznik: HAHAHAHAHAHHA
JC Soze81 and this whole time..they were doing it..together
spaznik: HAHAHAHAAHAHAH
JC Soze81: its true
JC Soze81: cause what just happen...is gay
JC Soze81: so therefore..they were both gay
JC Soze81: :-)
Don't you love how when you have guy issues, your girlfriends will be the first to point out either 1) the guy is gay 2) you can do SO much better/you deserve better 3) you waaay more cuter than the "other" chick 4) the guy is incredibly stupid and therefore you're actually the winner in the situation since now you'll be free of him. Its been like that ever since you discovered boys (in my case... age 4. I noticed that Brian E. had really lovely eyes... and I wanted him to be He-man to my She-ra... which would have NEVER worked out considering that they were brother and sister. Eww.) and will continue till the day I... well FOREVER. Thats girl power for you.
I'm moving on. Roaaar. GrrRrr. And all that good "power to the woman/I will survive" stuff... (insert picture of me flexing arms... pathetically.) I'm probably single because I never had a Ken doll growing up. My Barbie had no Ken. My Barbie had an "imaginary" Ken, which was good... but deep inside, it was never enough. Granted, Ken had no peepee and so probably Barbie wasn't missing much. But I'm sure she missed having that "male aura" that Ken brought along. There was no dream date... there was no dream house... no Ken. There were "talks" of them... "Oh Skipper, I had a FABULOUS date with Ken the other night..." but did I actually get to sit them down and make their faces kiss? No. Not even a sinful plastic carnal romp. I DID get a bridal Ken and Barbie set once for my birthday... but my parents gave it away and I never got to actually open and play with it. I think that because a boy had given it to me, they freaked out and assumed that he wanted to marry me. I was 8.
Anyways, still no tv. I've been reading a lot. I think I've made the Chino Hills Borders a very rich store. I just finished reading "Thoughts While Having Sex" by Stephanie Lehmann and I have to say that the title is misleading. (I wasn't dissapointed or anything... I read the back of the book as well as the first few chapters so I knew what I was getting into. But yeah, to be honest, the title is the one that caught my eye... I mean really, what is a book with a title like that doing in the "fiction/literature" section. Shouldn't it be in the "erotica" part of Borders? Or even in the "psychology" or "self help" area. Hmmm... ) It was a good read and not so much the fluffy "chicklit" type of book that I thought it was going to be. I DO have some other crappy titled books here though. I got "A NERD IN SHINING ARMOR." How embarassing is that? Really... that title just screams "hahahaha DORK!" but then again, it isn't as bad as buying "I HEART BAD BOYS" from a male cashier who I swear looked down at the book, then at me, back at the book and smirked. IT COULD BE A GIFT FOR SOMEONE ELSE YOU ASSUMING PRICK! IT COULD BE A GIFT!
But alas, it wasn't.
OK. I'm losing my mind. Must go study. Did you know that women blink nearly twice as much as men? No, I'm not learning that... just thought that was interesting. :)

Men... *argh*
But who needs em when you have TERRIFFIC friends... Like Jean. ;)
jeanyah: I THOUGHT WE HAD A CONNECTION!!!???
spaznik: its not you... its me.
spaznik: i just don't like you
jeanyah: yea.. whatever
jeanyah: SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN!!!
spaznik: man... i must suck major dick huh.
jeanyah: umm. actually.. you don't.. which is why i think the guy is dissapointed and lonely
jeanyah: how was disneyland?
spaznik: it was pretty fun!
spaznik: sucky cause 1) space mountain, thunder mountain, splash mountain, and the haunted mansion was down
spaznik: and 2) you weren't there.
jeanyah: what?!
jeanyah: i'm number 2?
:)
I also love Carrie too because she's gonna tape THE BACHELOR (GO BOB!) premiere (WED, 9pm on ABC) and the entire MUST SEE TV NBC Thursday night lineup for me... as well as anything that she thinks I need to watch (so I think Alias might be on that tape too.) COMMERICALS INCLUDED!! YAAY!!

Moment of the night: Dancing on the dancefloor *duh* when suddenly I feel this heavy breathing on my right arm. So, I turned, and found a guy beside me, dancing like a bunny. He had his arms in front of him, moving sorta in a powerwalk motion, and I kid you not, he was bouncing up and down... I'm sorry to say it wasn't along to the beat. I just turned quickly back to my original stance, kept my face straight and continued dancing.
It was only later when he moved on when I had a giggle fit. Oh my... I'd like to think that maybe he was doing it on purpose. Like a "haha! I'm gonna dance badly to get a reactionout of these girls." But no. I don't think that was the case. He looked rather serious and deep in thought. Poor guy. But it was kinda cute in a "trying" kind of way...
ARRRGH! I just found my toothbrush, in the bathroom, facedown IN A DISH with some liquid of what I'm assuming was a type of cleaner/polisher/orangewoodbang chemical. CURSE IT ALL TO HELL! Really... who do you think the PINK toothbrush belongs to? ITS FREAKING PINK! Like I would have a green one!?! I think my sister my have something to do with this... I'm just scared to think of what she may have done to it before I had discovered it in the cleaner. *shudder*
*note to self* buy new PINK toothbrush... tie a ribbon around it... and offically introduce it to those with whom I share the bathroom with. "Hello. This is MY toothbrush. Notice how its PINK. Like my loofah. Like my razor. Like my BEDROOM WALLS. Please. Treat it like your own... except don't touch it. Thanks."

OK. Got a new cellie (again). This one is for keeps though. I'm back with Sprint (YAY SPRINT! I HEART SPRINT! SPRINT ROCKS!) with a brand new plan. Sooooo, if you have my old number, call that, get the new number (write it down!), and then punch it into your phone and tell me how your day is. Or you can tell me you love me. Whatever. ;)
~*~
Anyways, I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my sunshine...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!

Be good and don't do anything I wouldn't do. Everything else is ok. ;)

Well, apparently my little part of "boonie" falls right on the border of "one bar" and "2 bars" of cell phone reception with T-Mobile. Looks like I'll be sticking with my old Sprint phone until I get everything returned and fixed. And to think I already programmed all those numbers... booger.

After some hardcore mathematics... Georgina and my mom figured out that Penelope's birthday is June 27. YAY! Baby has a birthday!
Argh. So much for getting out of the house early... the city is currently "fixing" my street. Luckily I parked out on the main road, but still, its a pain. I guess I'll have to wait a bit before they're done working on it. Blah. And I wanted to go to the meeting today! CURSE IT ALL!
But on the oh so very bright side, last night while driving back from work, I stopped by Jeans place and she taped me the *dum dum dum* CONAN O'BRIEN 10TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL!! Just for that, I going to give her my first born. Then she can tell it "Mommy traded you to me for a video that had Conan O'Brien and the begining of "DRIVE ME CRAZY" and parts of "BIG DADDY" on it." Isn't that so deliciously horrid!?! :)

Busy busy weekend... and it isn't quite over yet. I really do dislike Sunday weddings...
Friday night while at the bowling ally, Carlene and I ran into Jay. Oh my goodness, last time I saw him, he was just a kid, running around in his light blue polo shirt and navy shorts over at Holy Name. A KID! Now, he's a freshman over at CSUF... that was just trippy. Talk about feeling old. Actually, Andrew just made me feel super old when they played Paperboy's "Diddy" over the sound system. I got excited and said "Ohhh its Diddy!." To which Andrew replied "P Diddy?"
Ew. Sick huh. But I refuse to complain about it. The whole night though had this "oh my gosh I'm old" vibe to it anyways. Last time I had been at Oaktree was when I was still in high school... which ironically was the same time Carlene, Jill, and Richard were too and we had been all kicking it together that last time. But at least we didn't have to leave because of a curfew or anything. MUHAHAHAHA...
While bowling I made 2 strikes, a spare, and STILL didn't break a hundred. Apparently I have some skill... but it depends on my luck.
Anyways, my most favorite and bestest HOMIE FOR LIFE/lesbian lover Kathy came later on that night with Dan.. as did Jean and we tore it up at the arcade. Apparently my ass does wonders on the pinball machine. Oh yeah. Jean and I were playing some hardcore airhockey, and it was all fun and games until the puck went out of control and hit my thumb. HARD. It was painful and I almost cried. But I just laughed it off and proceeded to KICK HER ASS. :) I won. Yay me. Kiss my feet Jean! KISS MY FEET! ;P
Night turned into late night, and so they came over to the house for a little slumber party! I think they were actually using me so that they can see the puppy... but its all good. They finally saw the puppy at 6am, when Dan took her out of her pen and she went crazy on the blankets and pillows. It was fun for a good 10 minutes... but then we realized that we were still sleeping, and so we put her back.
Saturday... slept in, played with the doggie, and CLEANED! The back patio is 90% done which means soon we'll have TV back again! How exciting huh... the whole back yard is looking mighty fine in comparasion to the jungle it was right when we first moved in.
Anyways, all summer, I've been trying to meet with Janelle for some *good times* and finally we met up last night. Well actually, I went over to her place for dinner with her, Ryan and Paolo. Dinner was *wow* excellent... like something only meant for special occasions.... outside with lights, candles, wine and soft music.... you'd think that they were trying to set up someone. ;) But I really did have a terriffic night and I wish I could have stayed longer but...
5am this morning, wake up for wedding! After a breakfast stop at the local gas station (I know sad), Sonny and I were off. I actually love the way my boss told me about the event on sunday...
me: So what time do you want me on Sunday?
*silence*
boss: 6am
me: Oh... ok. Thats cool! Where is it at?
*silence*
boss: Palos Verdes.
As if I'm going to quit. Work supports my crack habit. Anyways, the drive to Palos Verdes was dark... and once I got to the area, it was foggy too. Thanks to my lone foglight though, we made it up the mountain. Work work work... cold cold cold... sprinkler sprinkler sprinkler. Blah. Finally get home to find a very much needed new cellie. YAY NEW CELLIE! It plays pretty music. It's like my own personal orchestra. Bad ass.
Tomorrow... I'm going to try my bestest to go to the meeting and I have a date before class at the Carls! I'm excited. Actually going to see people on campus instead of my class and go technique I've been living since summer. I wonder if everyone looks the same... Mmmmmm social interatcion... Nice.

Oh goodness... that moon is beautiful tonight. Look outside! It really is...
Well, what started off as a "look at my new shoes!" conversation turned into a "you need a man" lecture from my Mom...
me: look mom... I got new shoes!
mom: Oooo.. they're nice! (really, they're adorable! They're green heels with a thick buckle strap around the ankle. SEXY!)
me: I'm trying to phase myself out of the flip flops and into the heels...
mom: good. Then you can get a boyfriend.
Let me say it now. My mom is smoking crack. Along with some wild shrooms, weed, and a chia pet. She once said she wanted to buy a hookah just for decor. "It can be a conversation piece" she said. What kind of conversation would that be... "so.. you guys smoke?" Anyways, to make a long paragraph short.. she's crazy.
And the humiliation continues:
mom: Just put your hair down, take off your glasses, wear your contacts and make the first move. Say "Hellllllooooooo... I'm Niccccooolllee"
me: Ew. Oh speaking of, I got my new contact prescription...
mom: Give it to me. We can take it to Costco right now before we go to Chow King*
me: It isn't in my purse... its probably at home...
mom: want to turn around?
me: no... its ok...
mom: no lets turn around
me: its alright mom. are you so eager for me to get my contacts so that I can get a boy at Chow King*?
mom: You need a man...
me: Please stop saying that.
*Chow King is a little restaurant right next to/inside Seafood City... super flipino grocery located in heart of super flilipino area of Amar and Azusa in West Covina. They have a bust of Jose Rizal in front of it. Its THAT flilipino.
I love my mom.... and I know her heart is in the right place, but yeah. She crazy.
Anyways, moving on...
Going into week 3 of no tv. Oh the humanity... I found this really great dvd box set of Ranma 1/2 on half.com so thats pretty much what we've been watching so far. In fact, I've been watching it so much that I had a RAMNA dream last night. At least it wasn't subtitled. Ew.. whats my life coming to if I'm having anime dreams...
Don't answer that. ;P

Argh. My sheets are in the laundry but the scent of "poop" still lingers. BAD PUPPY!! Aww... I take it back. She's not evil.. she's damn cute and the sweetest thing ever. Sure she bites quite often, but its charming when it doesn't hurt. Hmmm... baby needs some hardcore training still.
Anyways, can we say that Febreeze has got to be one of the greatest inventions ever? Well, next to the Downey ball and the Brita water filter... it ranks up there. Ron Popeil has NOTHING on those inventions. Really. I have one of his dehydrators... I made dried apples when I was 10 years old.. and that was IT. On the other hand, Georgie Forman's grill is something everyone ought to have. You hear me. You think you don't need it, but I assure you... you do. Just don't cook fish in it... it will smell like fish forever afterwards no matter how many times you scrub that baby down with soap and water. Get 2. You won't regret it.
OH. Back to the movies. Sonny rented Phone Booth the other day and for the life of me, I couldn't just sit and watch it. I was just getting frustrated with the whole thing. I started to clean the kitchen as I "listened" to Colin Firth's happenings in the backround... and when I was done cleaning, I sat and watched... and then got up because I couldn't take it anymore. I imagine that when they're done watching, I'll go back down and fast forward to the end just to see what happens. ;P Then I can go back and watch the whole thing...yeah yeah, I'm spoiling the whole thing but its for MY peace of mind. ;P
Posted by Nicole at 11:59 PM 0 comments
Oh the chaos. It feels like we've moved again. Everything just seems "messy." On Monday, we organized the garage (for about the ba-jillionth time in the last two years... no seriously. Ba-jillion!!). New fridge and stove came in yesterday... they're installing the blower tomorrow i think... the backyard is in shambles since they're re-constructing the patio... and since they tore down the old one and accidently took down the satellite, we've been tv-less for a week now, and goodness knows when we'll get it back. My boss is wondering how I'm surviving without my dose of reality tv. Granted, I didn't watch a LOT of tv... but I do miss the sound of channels changing in the backround.
Anyways, the nightly ritual now is having dinner and having one person pick the feature for the night. Actually, its kinda nice in a way since it's like finding buried treasure with all the old videos from the box o *goodtimes*. We introduced Sonny to the wonderful world of Astire musicals and the Ramna 1/2 series. In fact, when Sonny and I finished watching what videos we had of Ranma... we went on a hunt for more.
OH STUPID PUPPY! She just pooped on my bed!!!! They can be the cutest things ever... but DAMMIT! Argh. BAD PENELOPE!! BAAAD!!!

The thing about coming home from having your fun is that nothing is quite exciting anymore. Its the *goodtimes* withdrawal. You had your chance to get away from everything, get your mind off of stuff... but when you come back, everything is still there. And some cases... there are more things that are just piled on to your mind.
Things are a bit stressful in the little lavender house in Chino Hills. So... if some of you can send some prayers this way.... I would totally appreciate it. Thanks. :)
