*cough cough* EHHHH... I'm sick! :( My throat is feeling icky... I guess it all came about Friday night because I was out the whole night and didn't really give myself any rest. Club social at Downtown Disney, late night run to Walmart with Beth to get supplies to make the Foothill invitations, working on the invitations for the longest time cause our original plan of making them into the shape of SOCKS didn't come out as cute as we'd hope they be, and finally a 4am trip to the Copy Club to have those suckers made. Got home around 5... woke up at 7:30 to go meet Joe and off to STC. By then, my throat was already showing signs of deterioration.
STC was cool, except for the whole Kinkos fiasco. :/ So after the opening session, Joe had 2 hours to get his handout copied 25 times for this workshop. We started this trip smiley, happy people... listening to ABBA TEENS. :) Unfortunantly, Joe didn't remember the exact directions that Mondo had told him to get there... so we ended up on the wrong freeway. (the first of MANY mishaps) We exited and figured... "hey... maybe we don't have to find a kinkos... let's just see if we can find any place that has a xerox machine!" So after 10 minutes or so of driving in an industrial area that pretty much looked like they wouldn't have copy machines open to the public... joe decides to pull over and ask for help. OK.. SO NOW we have the right directions... sorta. SO its back on the freeway.. 91- 110- to the 405. Except it was the wrong 405. :( So we exit and get back on. *note... when we exited.. we saw a sign that said "CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS" and we were just amazed...we had been driving for 30 minutes or so and thought we had gotten REALLY far from our orginal location... but apparently not! So yeah... I guess all roads DO lead to Metro!* Back on the RIGHT 405... Joe says we need to exit Hawthorne... so we do. But there's no Kinkos! But we keep on driving *red lights everywhere!*... we see a copy place and just as joe makes the U turn to get in there... we realize its closed. Drive drive drive *red lights everywhere!*... Joe sees another possible copy place... but when we look closer... its a PSYCHIC READING place. Drive drive drive *red lights everywhere!*... we get to the mall and think.. "there SHOULD be something here..." and finally see a Rite-Aid! There IS a copy machine there and its only $.05 a copy! YAY!... but there is a couple there who are COPYING EVERYTHING AND ITS MOTHER!! So we wait... and wait.. and wait... and we give up. Back into the car *red lights everywhere!* and we drive... we see a Ralphs! There IS a copy machine there... YAY! We're so excited that we dance around it and caress its ever so passionately. Theres no price on it, but it says quarters only. So Joe runs to the car to get quarters while I hold the machine and we copy hoping that we can get 3 or more copies with that quarter... but nooooo... for a quarter.. we got one copy. We have been driving around for an HOUR and the result so far is 1. Joe is getting pissed and I'm getting hostile towards this one freaking piece of paper. We asked one of the employees if there are any kinkos or places that we can get CHEAP copies nearby.. he says that theres a Office Depot nearby... we follow his directions *red lights everywhere!* and WHAT DO YOU KNOW... theres NO office depot before our eyes. SO we drive... and finally see a 7-11. Ironic thing is that as we were leaving CSUDH, we saw a 7-11... but Joe remarked that he didn't want to go cause it would be expensive. But now... we didn't care... stormed into the store only to see this old filipino man at the copy machine copying. OH NO! we thought.. but he turned and said.. "oh... I'm almost done!" YAAY! Joe asks how much it is... the man says "6 cents.." YAAY! He finishes and 2 minutes later... we have our copies. *harshly bitter and scarcasticly happy YAAAY* Back in the car.. where an hour and a half earlier ABBA TEEN was playing loudly... it was now silent. Every so often, Joe and I would start to laugh insanely. And then silence. And then crazy laughter again. Did i mention *red lights everywhere?* Get back to CSUDH and finish STC without a hitch... :)
Get back home around 4... Find Tita Sherry here with family... talked a bit with them.. talked a bit with Carlene.. took a shower and got ready for the UCR banquet. Took some family pictures to send to the Philippines... and finally off. Luckily the banquet was down the street *somewhat* at the Pomona Mining Company. It was really really nice... a lot fun. Everyone was going crazy with the atmosphere and taking pictures inside the jail cell. And the centerpieces were so ADORABLE!! Scary moment was when Beth started petting my hair... had Patrick come and start petting... which resulted in a lot of the guys petting my hair. I felt like the whores in the Herbal Essense commerical. Eh. After the banquet, in the room next door there was a DJ, so we went in there and danced a bit... but it was pretty freaky cause the people who were in there were pretty old and the DJ was playing like Biggie and other hip hop stuff. SO when we got on the dance floor, slowly the old folks would leave... sit around the dance floor and stare at us. Weirdness. Anyways, they came back when the DJ started busting out with disco... but we were all freaked out by the old folks that we just went back to our room and left the door open for the free music. It was a fun night. :) Came home, watched SNL with Mom and Carlene, and then sweet glorious sleep. :)
But now I'm sick. :( Acck. Ok... gonna go make some tea. At least I know that Manny will be happy reading this....
