The funniest thing happened at work today...
So while we were in the shop, this man comes up to the back door wearing a suit and carring something that looks like pillows. Well, he stops right at the door and says "Does anyone know who lives in a pineapple under the sea?"
Of course I know the answer. But being the bright girl that I am, I just don't say it out loud. In my mind, I KNOW he's gonna try to sell us something... Everyone else in the room is just silent, with the exception of Dough who asks "What!?!"
"Does anyone know who lives in a pineapple under the sea?"
Sonny, who is also bright but overly friendly and excited to know the answer screams "SPONGEBOB!"
"Thats right! And look what I have here..." the man replies has he reveals his product: Spongebob Squarepants Sleepingbags.
"NO."
But the man doesn't hear Brandy... and as he's about to embark on his Spongebob sleepingbag spheel when Brandy says loudly "NO"
The man gets it. He takes his sleeping bags and goes next door... without hopes of spreading the spongebob love to someone who'd appreciate it.
Of course, Brandy, Doug, and Sara had NO IDEA what the man was talking about... they though "pineapple under the sea" was some kind of "drug code" or something. But Sonny and I would go into these fits and giggles thinking about the man and his random question of the day. Really. How many people has he been sucessful in selling his "goods" to with that line? Its just too hialrious.

Sunday... I woke up to recieve a call from Jen. She asked me if I was going to go visit Nanang at the hospital. I told her that I wasn't thinking about it... but then she said that her dad had called her and apparently her dad, my dad, and my aunt were making "arrangements" because it wasn't looking good for Nanang.
Basically, this trip to the hospital was to say "goodbye."
I was in shock. I was upset. I was angry at my dad for not telling me in the first place. I had no idea what was going on. I was scared.
Normally, I'm not one of those "I hate hospitals" folks. I can go to volunteer, have tests done, visit mom... but that day I just did not want to be there. The smell was sickening and you could feel it begining to stick to your clothes. The walk to the SCU seemed long and once we got in, the walk to her bed seemed to go in slowmotion.
The room was pretty dim except for the glow of the different machines she was attached to. Nanang was sleeping and she looked so small in her bed. I can't say that she looked fine since she's been slowly diminishing since she's been at the home but I guess I can say that she appeared not to be... um...
Thankfully mom came and so she went to the desk to see what exactly was Nanangs condition. She was dehydrated... but at the moment stablized. At that moment, she's ok. And thats when we were all able to breathe again.
The rest of the time in Nanangs room was spent reminicing about some of the good ole "Concepcion" days... and a lot of the not so good ones. Blah.
Anyways, I haven't been able to have a real talk with Nanang for many years now due to the Alzheimer's and what not, but when I do see her when I get the chance... she recognizes me. I know she does. I wanted her to wake up right then and there and just to see that we were there and that we loved her.
Its kinda funny when you think about the whole thing though. My overdramatic cousin JR, every Christmas and Thanksgiving, would say Grace before family dinners... and each time he would say something to the extent of that year's holiday maybe Nanang's last. Even Nanang herself when she was still her crazy, normal, self would say that she was dying when she just had a cramp in her foot and needed to be massaged. And even now, my dad, uncle, and aunt were making "plans" and she wasn't gone. At this rate, Nanang is going to outlive us all.
Of course I'm joking and while I'm trying to see the lighter side of this... she's still sick. She's going to have a tube put into her stomach and she'll be fed through that from now on, which is a really good thing since feeding her orally was practically impossible. But this is the solution at the moment and I'm praying to God that this works. So if you can keep her in your prayers, I'll be very grateful.

Anyways, life just got a bit more hectic seeing that school started up this week. My schedule isn't too bad, but work has pretty much turned into a fulltime thing. Or at least it feels like it. Oh my. But its all good... Sonny works with me now and I see him ALL THE TIME. AT WORK. AT HOME. Thank GOD for school. :P Just kidding Sonny! Its actually cool to have him there and Sarah (the new girl) because its like I have little playmates with me at work instead of me doing thing all by myself. :)
GAMEPLAN for next weekend!
jeanyah: you should go eat a corndog in front of greg ...
jeanyah: sean
jeanyah: whatever
jeanyah: he'll fall in love with you
Ah... if only it were that easy Jean... if only.

Every so often, I'll work at a location that I'll mentally put on my "places I wanted to get married at" list. But never have I gone to a place where I have been so blown away by until I got to decorate the former Park Place Hotel in Los Angeles. It's just absolutely beautiful there. Park Plaza Hotel was built in 1925 and its detailed Art Deco architecture is just breathtaking. The moment I walked through the door, I was in love with the building. Not even seeing the rooms, I offically declared it as "THE PLACE." Ok... so I guess now I just gotta do is fine "THE GROOM" and save "THE MONEY" to get it... but seriously, its like a girl-fantasy found. So, when I went back for the teardown at 1am, I brought my camera. :)
The front entrance of the former Park Plaza Hotel. Isn't it gorgeous!?!
My pictures doesn't really do it justice, but then again, its 4am and proper lighting is working against me.
The ceiling of one of the ballrooms. You can't see it very well, but theres amazing designs painted on it. Its so detailed that your eye is just constantly looking at something.
Light fixtures in the ceremony room.
The elevator at the hotel was one of those old school elevators where you had to close the door yourself and pull/push on the lever to lift you up and down. Ohmygoodness... it was FREAKY and yet kind of fun in an eerie way. Anyways, so this is a picture of the floor indicator above the elevator door. I could almost imagine it spinning out of control as an elevator falling into something dark and awful. But I survived and only screamed twice for the holy heavens to hear me.
I actually would like to go back someday with my SLR and just have a field day with the place. Its funny though because security was so adamant about us not going above the 2nd floor... which prompted my imagination to concoct visions of ghosts and secrets needing to be uncovered. Its so delicious in that building!! The ballrooms all have a unique feel to them and it's just rich with eye art deco candy. Awww... so pretty.
I guess the only "bad point" against it is that it's not in the greatest part of LA. As we were packing the trailer, there was this helicopter that kept on passing above us and into the nearby park. In addition the bums that were just hovering constantly around us... Sonny said he saw a hooker too. Eek!
Anyways since I'm not going to be getting married anytime soon.... can we say that I am absolutely in love with this puppy! :) She is the most precious thing...
Mom with Penelope... where's the puppy!?!
:) Too cute huh. I hate to imagine what I would do when I have real KIDS one day. Oh my.

Her name is Penelope, she's 2 months old, and shes the CUTEST THING EVER!
We were thinking of the name of "WAWA" which would have been short for "chihuahua" but we decided that Penelope would be more fitting for the CUTEST PUPPY EVER! :)
